Contents of Calling Book
Introduction
The first entry in the Calling Book is a call received from Mrs S. St. Barbe.
My original aim for the project was to list the names in the Calling Book and donate the book and list to the St Barbe Museum in Lymington (which I achieved in 2006).
After all these years, I decided to add a photo of each page of the Calling Book with my attempt at a transcription. As the original Calling Book has been donated, the photos of the contents are from my working copy
It reminded me of 2 main problems I had originally:
1. The Lady did not always put the year in question. Where she did, I have highlighted the year in red or yellow.
2. It was always (and still is!) difficult to read the quick flowery writing the Lady used.
In particular the capital letters, B, R and K were a challenge!
I cannot guarantee my transcriptions. I would need a handwriting expert to sort out some of the entries:
