Introduction

My grandmother Ellen Saunders was born in Plaistow in 1877 and the family were Eastenders until the 1911 Census at least.

Like her sister Ruth she married one of two brothers named Brecht

Ellen's two brothers James and Charles married two sisters!

Through contact with cousins, a good picture of the family since 1823 has been obtained.

For the moment, we are stuck in finding out more about my great great grandfather Henry Saunders' Naval career which would give us his elusive birth details.
