Introduction - Bower/Collier Family Tree

When I set out to study the Bower/Collier Family Tree, my initial aim was to identify my 8 Great Grandparents (Bower) and my wife Chris’ 8 Great Grandparents (Collier). Though I have tended to study the Family History of the 16 Great Grandparents, I have also sought to find out the additional 16 Great Great Grandparents’ family names, and any 3 x Great Grandparents along the way!

Summary of Research To Date

Ruth Robinson was my 3 x Great Grandmother who was born in Sussex and married Fenn Bradbrook, a Silversmith.

This is not a name on which I have spent a lot of time researching, particularly with a commonly known name like Robinson.

I would not normally have sought to go back this far but I was given the names of the parents and grandparents of Ruth Robinson by a contact on Genes Reunited.

It is interesting that for a family London-based in the 19th Century that my 3 x Great Grandparents came from Ipswich and Bognor respectively and married at South Bersted, Sussex.

A correspondent made contact via Genes Reunited to give me most of the detail in this report.

Progress 2010

A correspondent contacted me to say that Ruth Robinson was the daughter of Joseph Robinson and Elizabeth Venice, her 5th Generation Grandparents.

She told me that Ruth was one of 12 children and was baptised on 25 Dec 1802 at St Thomas a Beckett Church, Pagham, Sussex. Ruth's parents continued to live in Pagham. Joseph died aged 80 yrs and Elizabeth died aged 88 yrs.

I wrote this report as part of the Big One! project.

A distant cousin sent me details of the burial of Susannah Amears, who was the Great Grandmother of Ruth Robinson:

Susannah Robinson (maiden name Amears) born 26.4.1679 Boxgrove (Chichester District, West Sussex) died 1.5.1727 in Sidlesham, Chichester and was buried at St Mary & St Blaise Church, per findagrave.com

My cousin also pointed out that Ruth Robinson's grandmother must have been Annabel Wyat not Mary Somers.
