Bradbrook Family

Introduction - Bower/Collier Family Tree

When I set out to study the Bower/Collier Family Tree, my initial aim was to identify my 8 Great Grandparents (Bower) and my wife Chris’ 8 Great Grandparents (Collier). Though I have tended to study the Family History of the 16 Great Grandparents, I have also sought to find out the additional 16 Great Great Grandparents’ family names, and any 3 x Great Grandparents along the way!

The names that I have identified to date are:

Summary of Research To Date

Elizabeth Bradbrook was my 2 x Great Grandmother who married Thomas William Hayes in 1854.

From the Censuses, I found that the Bradbrook Family lived near the Hayes Family in Thornhill Street, Islington in 1841-1861. Otherwise this is not a name that I have spent a lot of time researching.

As most of the Bradbrook Family came from London, it is interesting that my 3 x Great Grandparents came from Ipswich and Bognor respectively and married at South Bersted, Sussex.

Progress 2005

I duly obtained the 1854 marriage certificate of Thomas William Hayes and Elizabeth Bradbrook; bit of a surprise when their son Henry was born in 1849! Previously I had found Elizabeth's family in the 1841 and 1851 Censuses.

Progress 2010

I obtained Fenn Bradbrook's death certificate (died 1857 age 52)

I wrote this report as part of the Big One! project.

Progress 2011

I visited London to take photo's of some of the streets that the Bradbrook family lived in particularly Thornhill Street (now Wyford Road) where Fenn Bradbrook was a silversmith:

Visit to London January 2011

We have known for some years that my 3 x Great Grandfather, Fenn Bradbrook, was born in Ipswich. A correspondent found the following baptism/christening which I am accepting as "ours".

Claydon, Suffolk (approx 4 miles from Ipswich)

Fynn Bradbrook bp 2.10.1803
(Parents Thomas & Elizabeth Bradbrook)

Progress 2019

Contact with a correspondent encouraged me to look at the family in Claydon again.

As a result I may have found the marriage of Fynn/Fenn's parents and his brothers and sisters.

Things we wish we knew

Birth of Thomas Bradbrook

Confirmation of marriage of Thomas Bradbrook

Whether there is any link between the Bradbrooks living in Skidmore Street, Stepney and the Hayes family living nearby (see below)
