This is a liong article, one of the major articles in this project.
It appears that there was a dynasty of Silk Weavers named Collier in the 17th and 18th centuries in first Shoreditch then Spitalfields and Bethnal Green.
So far I have identified 2 important people/figureheads that I have termed the Fountain Heads who owned propoerties in Bethnal Green. I have found 2 main families:
Family 1 (my wife's branch of the tree through James Collier Weaver 101)
Family 2 (the families of the children of the Fountain Heads notably William Delves Collier and Thomas Collier
who married Mary Kemp (of Gaucheron descent)
The aim has been to try to link Families 1 and 2 and the other families. One clue has been the streets where the families lived.
The following article summarises the extensive research that has been undertaken and some research that might be undertaken.
For each family, there is:
- a summary of information obtained to date
- things we wish we knew and
- the detail of the information obrtained to date
