I had corresponded with my first cousin in Melbourne, Austraiia since 2008 nand I was delighted that I was able to meet her and her husband when they visited London.
I took them on a typical tour including London's Guildhall:
We then made our way to Spitalfields incuding Spitalfields Market and the Town House, where we had coffee, and cake!
They found the basement kitchen interesting as they were setting up a coffee house in Melbourne.
We then went past Christ Church, Spitalfields, where there were baptisms and sadly burials of Henry& Mary Brecht's children.
We paused in Fashion Street where Henry Brecht was a Colour Maker.
We caught a boat back from Tower Pier to the City
We finished up at Dirty Dicks a pub in the vibrant Liverpool Street Station area.
I hope they enjoyed the tour as much as I did.
I had never done my account of the visit justice and this became possible when I was inspired to write a piece for a new Creative Writing/Reading group within Barton Probus Club:
