Introduction

As a One-Name Study, I tried to record every parish record that I came across, but clearly there were 3 distinct areas of interest:

1. The sad records of the death of Henry & Mary (Somes) Brecht's children (burials at Christ Church, Spitalfields) followed by the birth of subsequent children after Mary died.

I have assumed that John Christopher Brecht and Christopher Brhgt and Christopher Bright are one and the same person, because the christenings are at the same church and the mother has the same name in each case.

"The church of St George, Little Alie Street, Goodman's Fields, in East London was built in 1762 and opened in 1763 to serve the increasing German Lutheran population of East London. The sugar industry was mainly based in East London and was largely owned by Germans. Most of the workers came from North Germany and were Lutherans.The church's foundation was largely due to the efforts of a local sugar refiner called Mr Beckmann, whose sugar baker' workers formed much of the original congregation...
