The Bower & Collier Family History

Bower Family

Mini-Project - Gux Family

After discovering that one of Christopher Bower's brother was William Gux Bower, I found that their parents married in Kent:

Dartford, Kent

William Bower
married 4.6.1775
Elizabeth Gux

It would have been helpful to know which church (perhaps giving more detail), but the discovery is a breakthrough.

There are many entries for Gux in Kent:

- Dartford and nearby towns, e.g. Bexley and East Wickham

and in the London area & other entries under Guxx.

There are also entries in East Sussex and many variants, e,g, Gax, Gex, Gix and Gox, which makes any progression difficult.

In the 1841 Census, George Bower stated that he was not born in the County of Middlesex. So he could have been born in nearby Surrey or indeed Kent.
